TK Maxx Store opening this summer

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

TK Maxx is famous for selling designer and high street brands at discounted prices. TK Maxx is set to open a new store in Worcester at the former Woolworths site. The opening of the clothing store will create approximately 50 new jobs, which will definitely help to boost the local economy in Worcestershire.

The high street has been left feeling a little bare since the closure of the Woolworths store about 5 months ago. There will now be 20, 000 sq foot of clothing, homeware and accessories to add to the Worcester high street. A spokeswoman for TK Maxx has announced that they are delighted to open a new store in Worcester.

Customers have been told not to expect such lavish features such as marble floors as they want to pass such huge savings onto their customers.  TK Maxx currently has stores in local areas such as Kidderminster and Redditch.

The retailer has not given an exact date for the opening of the Worcester store but it is expected to be sometime in August. Tourism bosses from Worcester have welcomed the news of the opening of the TK Maxx store as it is another big store coming to the high street. Other new stores opening soon in Worcester is Peacocks, whilst current stores such as Clarks having a refurbishment.

Local Pub set to reopen after revamp

Friday, May 8th, 2009

An historic pub combined with a restaurant has gone through an extensive refurbishment, is soon ready to open its doors again to the public. The Crown and Sandys in Ombersley, near Worcester is due to open on Thursday 14th May.

It is a grade two listed building which is dated back to the 16th century. Over recent months it has undergone major structural work. Despite the structural work, the owners are confident that they have managed to restore the historical features of the building.

Work on the building combined with the traffic flow over a long period of time has possibly contributed to the minor disintegration on the front wall. The reopening of the pub also means the possibility of 12 new posts. The opening of the pub is promising to deliver excellent food with a quality service.

Before the pub had closed for the refurbishment it was extremely popular with local residents and hopefully the success will continue now after the refurbishment.  Crown and Sandys are also hosting a special fundraising dinner. The local celebrity Sir Ian Botham, a former Worcester cricket hero will be making an appearance and also a speech. This event will take place on Friday 22nd May.

Dan commented:

“We have been toying with this idea to hold a live air guitar event in Worcester for quite a while, as this has never happened in the city before.”
